Eastern Michigan parts ways with head coach Stan Heath
Eastern Michigan University’s coach Stan Heath takes in warmups before the men’s game against Kent, Feb. 11, 2026, at M.A.C. Center in Kent, Ohio. Eastern Michigan and head basketball coach Stan Heath have agreed to part ways, the school announced Sunday.
Heath, a Detroit native, posted a 57-99 record during his time with his alma mater. The Eagles finished with a 10-21 record and a 4-14 mark in the Mid-American Conference in 2025-26.
"I appreciate the opportunity to coach at my alma mater," Heath said. "I am disappointed for our fans and the Eastern community that we were not able to reach the level of success that is possible at EMU. I wish Eastern Michigan University the best going forward."
Heath, 61, is 266-306 as head coach at Kent State (2001-02), Arkansas (2002-07), South Florida (2007-14) and Eastern Michigan (2021-26).
"We are grateful for Coach Heath's commitment to this program, which spans five years as head coach and more than four decades as a student-athlete and proud alumnus of this University," athletic director Scott Wetherbee said. "He cares deeply about Eastern Michigan, and I wish him and his family the very best."
Eastern Michigan will begin a national search for its next head coach, Wetherbee said.
